Friday Hub at Ealing Soup Kitchen and Steph arrived early to be welcomed by the earlier birds. Angela had extra volunteers today from a company doing a volunteering day, so a lot of newbies. Straight to the kitchen who was supervised by Vinka and Mary. Vinka was happy to see Steph as had some intensive and heavy tasks to be done. The team prepared vegetables that would go with the spaghetti, but also meatballs for the meat lovers(460 meatballs). Dessert was going to be a massive task as rice pudding. Massive pot of rice, which needed much care to avoid it being sticky or burnt. Alot of stirring for Steph to have the rice perfectly cooked and not stuck to the pan. During the making, we added water, milk, vanilla, custard, sugar, maple syrup and elbow grease. Then it was time to cook pasta to go with the meatballs and the vegetables. No pot is too big for Steph and both Mary and Vinka know that :-) . In a flash it was already time to serve meals, but we did have a well deserved coffee and biscuits. Huge cup given to Steph...doh!!!
