Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
After a year where, despite everything, GG Hounslow rallied the troops and set about running errands, doing shopping, cleaning, weeding, painting, wrapping and completing a mammoth amount of good deeds, it was only right that we finished off 2021 with one of biggest challenges to date!
After a quick run down to pick up tools and bulbs, we headed over to Harvard Hill park to begin the epic challenge of planting hundreds - and hundreds - of tulip, daffodil and hyacinth bulbs. While some of us opted for a trench style approach, others did individual holes. Either way, we made swift progress, attracting the attention of several local interested dogs and their owners - one even asking if we ever needed permission as if we were some guerrilla planting group! We even discovered some buried treasures in the shape of a necklace, and smelled some not-so-buried treasure...After a little confusion over bulbs and what exactly we were planting, we called it a night and ran back to the town hall stopping only to pose in front of some very impressive decorations.
Well done on stepping up brilliantly during a tough year - you are heroes, each and every one. To date, you amazing lot have completed 3227 good deeds. Now that's something to guarantee to get you on the nice list!
We'll be back for group runs in January, but there will be missions happening over the festive period. Until then, run festive, run safe, and run happy GoodGym! x
