Fifteen hardy goodgym runners braved the coldest and snowest evening of the year to deliver leaflets for the Phoenix Cinema. It is one of the oldest continuously functioning, purpose built cinemas in the country. Saved from being demolished by a trust, it still preserves its original 1910 barrel vaulted ceiling, and in a later refurbishment Art deco panels. It became a trust in 1985 and does great work in the community besides offering a great place to watch a film. Check out its films or just have a coffee in its cafe! Phoenix We gathered in the vestibule of the cinema as the snow continued to fall and the temperatures dropped. We decided to split into a walking group and a ‘cautious’ running group and after a brief warm up in the cinema we headed off into the snow. The snow had settled on the cars and buildings but the pavements weren’t to bad and we made good time distributing an entire box of leaflets. It was an early finish but a great opportunity to gather for a social drink and say goodbye to our unofficial official social secretary Sarah who is sadly moving away for work. (vacancy available) Give her a shout!
Thanks for braving the elements and doing some good!
