Report written by Portsmouth runner
A cold and drizzly day at College Park, empty apart from us and a few dog walkers. We were delighted to welcome Ellie from Goodgym Bournemouth who was being a tourist and had already joined the Hilsea Lido running group prior to joining us for the litter pick – we hope to see her back in Portsmouth again soon. There were lots of lolly sticks in the children’s play park, Mel found not one but 2 pennies, so plenty of good luck coming our way! Vicki found a pair of men’s pants and one running glove, plus a baby’s small play mat that looked like it had fallen from a pushchair. John found a lovely blond plait which he modelled for us, hence the title. Lots of the usual sweet wrappers and a lot of celebration sweet wrappers, cans, bottles and crisp packets. Just as we were finishing a council litter picker had arrived and thanked us for helping – he also said we could leave our rubbish by his lorry and Vicky and John took the recycling and glass away with them. We ended the morning with a welcome hot drink and food at Mardin Café.
