Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katherine (she/her)
3 Goodgymers (plus an honourary goodgymer) enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon at team Springboard CIC's allotment.
The first task on the list today was the never ending tale of weeding mare's tail! We managed to get the bed next to the potatoes looking neat and tidy whilst catching up on each other's weeks and getting to know some of the other volunteers helping at the allotment.
Having had our fill of the ferocious sunshine, Esther kindly found us a task that we could do in the shade of the fruit trees. With compost at the ready, we potted on lots of kale seedlings, giving each one a little bit of food in the compost and gently handling the baby plants taking care not to damage the roots. There were also a few broccoli plants that needed potting on into slightly larger pots too.
With all the seedlings safely in their new homes, there was time for a natter and a piece of delicious lemon drizzle (thanks Lil) as a reward for all our hard work.
It was lovely to meet Anastasia today and hear all about her future plans for her own allotment. Looking forward to the next time - fingers crossed the weather will be on our side again!
