As the sun began to set, we could already feel the effects of Storm Brendan.
However, this did not stop the hardcore Bexley GG team from meeting at Crook Log ready for a run and task. It was great to see so many of you, who for some, was the first week back after Christmas.
We headed outside for our warm up/getting wet from the rain.
As it was Martins Birthday, he led the warm up tonight. Great work Martin, we were really looking forward to those 49 burpees. Instead, Martin broke it down into 49 exercises, each marking a year.
We then went on to play
Head, shoulders, knees and CONE!
We split into pairs whilst Susan shouting 'Head, shoulders, knees or CONE'. The first one in the pair to grab the cone wins and the loser has to do 3 star jumps. We switched up the teams a few times before packing away and heading out for the run.
We decided to do an out n back route down one of the back streets so as to avoid the main road and also get a bit of an extra workout up the steps of the footbridge over the train track. We also managed to slip in a free extra workout on the back part of the run as we were now running against the wind which was blowing us back.
Great running tonight guys in difficult conditions!
Our task at the Youth Centre was not the most appropriate considering the weather. We were based outside, sweeping and clearing the leaves which had blown against the fence. We grabbed tools and gloves and headed back outside trying to clear as much as possible without it all blowing away again.
We worked as a team with some sweeping into piles, others collecting into a dustpan and brush, some weeding and some managing the bins.
We decided enough was enough before packing everything away into the store cupboard and saying our goodbyes.
It was then back to base for a cool down.
Next week we are at the Welling Library
Remember to wrap up warm as it is an outside task and if you have any headtorches or lights, bring them along.
I have some extra gardening gloves too but if you have a pair of your own to bring along that would be great.
Until next time...
Happy Running!
