Madhan was standing in front of Mr.D's house and scanning the area to see if he could spot his mates. A minute later a nice aroma of coffee arrived followed by the Ealing duo (Kash and Sevan) who were holding coffee cups in their hand.

Entry

The mission description mentioned to give a call to Mr.D so that he can give us the access code to enter. Kash left a voice note as the call was not picked up. I noticed the doorbell and gave that a try. A few seconds later we noticed the main door buzzed. After entering the door, we entered level 2, which is to go inside the flat. Mr.D said we needed to get the keys from the secure lock to open the door. And he was whispering the 4-digit code from the other side of the door which Kash understood immediately. The lock opened, keys taken and the door opened.

The briefing

Mr.D welcomed us and he was partially blinded and was waiting for an operation to gain eyesight on one of his eyes. He was explaining what needs to be done. We have to pack the Reader's Digest before 2010, Sevan then reconfirmed that it was before 2020 and not 2010.

Mr.D was planning to gift his books and magazines to a library in a country to support their education.

Sort and pack

As Mr.D couldn't see properly, he was guiding us with directions on where the items would be and how to pack them. Kash got the cardboard and Sevan started sorting the Reader's Digest by years and I took a tour to the kitchen to see a cabinet full of National Geographic books and other magazines which needed packing as well.

I have the high ground

The ladder was not tall enough to reach the loft where we needed to put the packed books. Also, Mr.D wanted 'his' books, Yes, Mr.D was an author, to be moved to the front of the loft for easy access. Kash suggested she would climb and use her calisthenics to get into the loft and started searching Mr.D's books. The loft doesn't have light, Sevan lent his head torch and Kash owned the top spot.

The listener

Mr.D loves talking as he has so much knowledge on a wide variety of topics.

He has degrees in Maths, Engineering, Music, Philosophy, and Phonetics. The house was filled with books from all categories geopolitics, programming, German dictionary, and Predator movie collection to name a few.

He liked Sevan and they were having a conversation in the meantime I started packing the books I took from the kitchen and gave them to Kash to arrange them in the loft.

Wrap up

As 90 minutes was nearing its end, we called it a wrap and Kash descended from the loft and landed on her tippy toes, where Sevan was making sure she didn't fall from the loft. I was holding the ladder. Then Mr.D requested two of his books from the box. As Kash moved them near the loft entrance, it was easier this time to get the books. We also labeled all the boxes for easy identification.

The trio then walked just in time for Happy Hours in Karak Chai to enjoy £1 chai.
