Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
It was a night of ups and downs in Hounslow yesterday. On the one hand -
We got to celebrate Paul's 100th good deed. ** Really great work - that shows commitment and having made a massive difference to community. Next time you see him give Paul a high five for his new wings!
but then...
We said goodbye to lovely Tatty** who is off for new adventures in the great outdoors. We'll miss you! Thank you for all your energy and good things you helped happen.
After this emotional rollercoaster it's a good thing we have the monthly GoodGym social to look forward to tonight! Come along to Islington to hear about all things GoodGym, running and punning.
Will run for cake
With no less than two cakes waiting for us upon our return, we headed outside for our warm up. Testing our coordination as well as upping our heart rates and warming up our muscles, we also asked the question, in honour of Paul's 100th good deed, 'what do you want to do before you're 100'. Read all the Game of Thrones books, retire, finish writing a book, run PBs and finish a half marathon. Great goals! There will be no stopping you.
It was just under 3k to get to our task last night at Ealing Rd Church - a community space that also doubles up as a homeless shelter, food and clothes bank. We had a range of jobs to do from Pastor Roger, including shifting bags, sanding down railings ready for painting (by us - soon!), cleaning the kitchen and foodbank and bagging up leaves. After half an hour of work we were done, and Roger let us know that even though they may seem like small jobs to us, they would have taken him hours to do.
We ran back to our starting point at a nice pace, some even finishing with a sprint. It wasn't over there though, as we headed inside to knock out a quick abs blast. After few crunches, side planks, and situps we saw off the night with our weekly plank minute. (And then pub). Great work everybody! Next week we have a new task at a residential home for the elderly so it would be great to have as many of you lovely people as possible . You can find all the details and sign up here.
