Great to see you all last night, even if a film crew had taken over our usual meet and greet and warm up spot! Still, while we did not have the lights or camera, we certainly had the action!
After a little relocation and an attempt from Johnny to find out whether Mr Spielberg was inside, we welcomed Chris to his first group run - give him a cheer! - and started our warm up. Testing not only our coordination and our memory (to varying success!) we got our major muscle groups firing and ready to go.
Our task was at a local school, so we set off into the night and were met by caretaker Claire with a big old trolley of tools. While Leticia and Chris got busy testing their art skills by painting the teepee, the rest of us went on a magical mystery tour to the school's secret garden. After Claire undid the massive padlocks and swung open the giant wrought iron door it was like stepping into the eponymous book. We found twisting paths, a lovely little pond, and even a WW2 bunker.
Everybody soon got stuck in ripping up ivy and clearing the area which had become very overgrown during lockdown, and before long it was looking much better for the children who use on their nature and therapy walks. It's amazing to see how much you all got done in such a short amount of time.
Gathering everybody together again, we set off back to the Town Hall - but did anybody figure out what that mystery flag at the school was about?
Back at base it was time for fitness, and I can only apologise for the sprint/squat/frog combination! There was some great running, strong planking and excellent form throughout a series of circuits. Well done team.
Next week we're at Cultivate London to help this charity which repurposes unused land and trains young people in horticulture - you can sign up for all the Wednesday fun here!. Until then, runny happy, run safe, and have a great week.
