Valentine's Day Digtacular
20 GoodGymers made their way 5.7km to help their local community in Hackney.
- Tuesday, 14th of February 2017
20 Hackney GoodGymers ran 6k to Abney Park Cemetery to shovel and shift a cubic tonne of WoodChippings to create 120 metres of pathway.
On a mild Tuesday evening the Valentine's Day avoiders gathered to get stuck into some proper fitness and community giving work!!
Welcoming in 4 first timers Sophie, Clair, Alexandra and Olivia to the fold for an awesome running fun evening.
We set off with improved traffic light navigation from Peter we shaved off a few minutes from our normal running time to Abney Park without running any faster!!
Meeting Tom at the gate who had our tools ready to go! 6 Shovels, 18 wheelbarrows, 20 pairs of gloves and 2 rakes had is all set. We headed out to the far corner of the Park where we met a full tonne of woodchippings! We began loading the narrows and running them around to Team Rake who were precision raking a splendid path.
A frantic pace with empty barrows coming back in and full ones waiting to be run around, everyone was focused and on it!!
With the woodchip pile reducing at a super rate we just needed a little push in the last 10 minutes to complete the path and clear all the woodchip!
We quickly run the kit back up to the shed and headed off with a big thanks from Tom! We ran a progressive pace back, increasing the tempo every 3 minutes until we were really rolling as we hit London Fields and stormed back to base!!
Top session, a top effort and look forward to seeing you all again next week when we visit ** Bootstrap** please sign up here.
