Today six brave runners gave up their Sunday lie in to help out Coryton primary school.

Goodgym the 'conker'ors

The first fab five met up in a field all knew too well as the starting point of Park Run. Ben the benevolent and Martin the mighty were already running to keep themselves warm, Mikey the marvellous joined with Rachel the righteous. And finally Darren the delayed. We began off on our route chatting along the way about the weekend park run, trail runs and of course the rugby.

2km in and we were at pick up point number two, and our prize was runner six, Aimee the awesome who was on run number 50.

Congratulations to Aimee y'all.

Back on course and it was time to continue our scenic trip back to school, it was a lovely meander along the river with plenty of runner nods, mornings and dog walkers along the way. Under bridges, up and over trails, locks, mallard ducks and even a boat, plus an additional couple of km to continue the scenic route. What a lovely way to start a Sunday.

Welcome, Croeso

After a great run we had arrived, ready to get stuck in. With plenty of tools available, water bananas and some wonderful home made flapjacks. But no treats yet, there is work to be done.

Wendy, our host teacher, explained what we were there for, in the raised area for the children they wanted us to clear in front of the fence of brambles, old leaves ready for a trench to be dug. THen a selection of hedges were going to be planted for all year foliage to help encourage the wildlife into the garden for the children to learn about.

We got started and cleared all that we could and before we knew it, we were onto the digging. With some finds along the way, conkers, a beer can older than Ben, worms, worms, worms......

Break time and a banana or two

After another chat or two it was time to get back to the trenches and join them all up, it was strenuous, but a good upper body workout.

Well done all

Our usual end photo shoot, tools up and pose. And it was time to go, half to a mission and the rest homeward bound.
