Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Remy Maisel
Most of GoodGym Hounslow daringly signed up for Sunday morning missions after our August social on Saturday, which included Gunnersbury Parkrun and paddleboarding from Kew Bridge to Hammersmith Bridge with Active 360 - a beneficiary of a few group run tasks!
Tash and Remy still managed to wake up Sunday because we knew Ms C needed our help. Luckily for us, it was a local mission - Hounslow is a long borough, and four of the others were venturing out into Feltham, but we were staying local to our homes in Chiswick. After Remy's first 18-mile run on Friday and then Parkrun plus as 12k paddle, and Tash's Parkrun, local sounded good. Tash rallied and ran a scenic route mission anyway, adding another 5k to her weekly mileage and making Remy's 5-minute walk look bad.
The mission was clearing out a cupboard so there would be someplace to store Ms C's wheelchair. The cupboard was outdoors, and hence very spidery. The main challenge was to try to avoid seeing or touching any spiders, which we would like to think we did. Filling the bags that were also in the shed with the paint and brushes minimised the trips to the skip, so we were finished almost before Remy could say "Let's get crumpets after this."
Ms C's family member approved of our efficient de-cluttering job, so we felt tea and crumpets were earned. Post-crumpet, Tash jogged off into the greyish light again, confusing Remy, upon whom crumpets have a soporific effect.
