Tonight we welcomed Aimee for her first GoodGym run, thanks to [Toni]((/runners/toni-ashmore) for bringing her along. It was a particularly cakey run tonight (with a particularly short run) but a pretty good choice for a first run!

Mel brought cake to celebrate her 100th good deed and got to wear the wings; Rosie brought shortbread & Columbian sweets (Maura was excited!) to celebrate her 50th good deed and got to wear the crazy hat. Dr Jo brought saffron buns (my fave!) to celebrate her return from Cornwall and Rachel brought Tim Tams (mmm) to celebrate her return from Oz! So we had plenty of reason to head back to Fratton after our good deed was done.

Once we'd all introduced ourselves the walkers headed out and the rest of us did some warm up drills around the car park - always one for the glamourous locations! Angela gave an excellent demo of a walking lunge, good skills.

We then headed to St Faith's where we met Lucy and Duncan who had already set to work tackling the ever recurring bindweed and some overgrown brambles. Judy whizzed round the corner on her bike a bit later, just as we needed some weed vs plant advice! We all spread out around the garden area and got stuck in. The oddest find was definitely a child's bike seat in the bushes - we had visions of an ET style cycle ride over the church with the passenger falling off into the greenery below... probably a lot more dramatic than what actually happened! Catherine disturbed a frog / toad with her plant clearing but in general most wildlife was left alive and well and where it should be!

We had to take the clippings through the church and out into a courtyard so made a little Hansel & Gretel style line of leaves so we could find our way in and out. Once everything was tidy there was a crazy fitness session involving latex & laughing (intriguing eh?!) followed by a lovely cuppa inside the church and some cake, to warm us up for the cakes back at base!!

I was struggling with the run report title tonight but came across a church related running joke for you: Who was the fastest runner? Adam, he was first in the human race. groan

For more good deeds check out the community missions listings, we have something to get involved with every day for the next 4 days! Otherwise, it's back at Fratton CC next Wednesday for the last lido long run of the year. Definitely need torches / head torches / reflective gear etc. Be safe, be seen! (And see what you're doing too!)

Hope to see you somewhere soon x
