Friday Hub mission: 1st shift. Usual start with unloading food from City Harvest London which was then separated for the food bags. Then Steph had 30 whole chickens to separate and put them into individual bags, but also loads of wings which had to be bagged in portions of 4 wings per bag. On top of the chicken, Steph also had frozen potatoes to separate into individual portions to go with the chicken 🐔 or the wings. Once this task done and all the chicken put into the fridges ready for collection, Steph went to help the other volunteers with the grocery bags. At 1PM, Steph went to his usual task of serving food and beverages to our hungry guests. Menu today at the Friday Hub was either a chicken or veggie stew with mashed potatoes with salad/coleslaw followed by sponge cake with custard or a freshly made fruit salad. Super busy service, but we did not chicken out and winged it!! Angela's team smashed it in the kitchen. Take away meals and sandwiches were handed out from 2pm.
Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area. Nine local churches support our faith-based Soup Kitchen, which has been running since 1973.
