The crew were out in good numbers last night despite the drastic drop in temperature - Spring reverting to Winter - and we were ready to set off and help out Valcie from Papa's Park at the Landor Road allotments.
First up we were delighted to welcome Perdie to the Lambeth group for her first session - great to have you with us!
Tilly, Ben and Fi then joined us and we set off on a loop via Clapham North to Landor Road and despite being hesitant about the run portion, Perdie decided to join and in the end made it round no problem.
On arrival Matt was there to let us in and show us the tasks and our cyclists Marie-Noelle and Paul were there to meet us as well. The tasks were simple clear out the alkanet from as much of the plot as we could and once the tools were distributed we hit the ground hard.
By 8pm we had cleared a huge tract and Matt was surprised that we had filled the tonne bag full of weeds and grass and that was time for this session.
And so we set off back to base, a few cheeky Haribo were shared to keep our blood sugar levels even (...!) and we look forward to the next session and hopefully some better weather as well. Valcie was very pleased and sent her thanks to the group as well.
See you next time - Let's Go Lambeth!!

The evening's planned collab with Friday Night Lights didn't come to pass but that doesn't mean that Lambeth GoodGym wasn't ready to party.....
The team met as usual at Papa's and 6 trusty GGers including a new face were ready to crank up the tunes and head out to the task. The group offered a warm welcome to Manos for his first ever GG session - great to have you with us Mano!
We set off with AA's rather clunky speaker blaring out Motown hits through Brixton during rush hour and of course nobody batted an eyelid as many a stranger thing has been seen than a group of red clad runners partying to Ben E King and Bill Withers!!
On arrival at the Tulse Hill estate we were greeted by: - A very enthusiastic resident who danced with us in the car park despite being on CRUTCHES! - Alfred the very protective and excited dog - And our host Vinnie who had arranged the task for the evening
The task was a classic lift 'n' shift, grab all the timber and relocate it from the playground to the polytunnelas well as a massive roll of underlay and some pin boards, then dispose of the pallets by the recycling bins. We had serious muscle with us so while Alfred serenaded us with barking Ben, Manos, Scott, Tilly and Fi grabbed as much as they could and we were done in no time.
Task completed and Vinnie was delighted (Alfred maybe less so?) and so we loaded up Spotify to disco classics and were able to boogie our way all the way home.
Big thanks to all and see you next time (oh and Scott I'm expecting you to follow through on that 80s fancy dress in the coming weeks!)
Wednesday 26th March
Ben Margerison cheered by other people 25 times.
Ben is part of a crowd that's making a huge noise. Ben has been cheered by 25 people - that's a round of applause just on their own. We hope they keep it up.

As AA Yianny had to travel unexpectedly the GG team stepped in and Fi kindly covered the group run this Tuesday.
Feedback from the team was that it was all fine and dandy. Fi and Ben ran together from Papas and met Paul, Adam and Michael at the task.
The group chopped 6 big holly bushes right back (with some secateurs) which took up the whole time available Helping to not block the windows and provide a bit more light ahead of spring.
Big thank you to Fi and the whole group for stepping in / up and delivering another excellent task.
See you all next time!

Our intrepid GoodGymers met at Papa's and were presented with a challenge to start our evening - could anyone help our friends who use Papa's Hall to open the door using the dodgy keys we had? I'll spare you the suspense - no we couldn't! The combined skill and brainpower of a medical professional, a tech titan and an Area Activator failed miserably, but in our defense on that set of keys it has been thus for years......
Never mind we had work to do so Katie, Dan and Yianny set off for a 3km run out to the wonderful Holy Trinity Church and we were able despite the dark to take a tour through Brockwell Park - a lovely twilight run - on our way as we look forward to the lengthening Spring evenings.
On arrival we were met by Paul and Ben and shortly afterwards Michael arrived having completed his longer run to the task as part of his marathon training.
We had two main tasks set out by Nicole: - Trim and collect the bushes and put into compost bags - Shovel woodchip into barrows and wheel up to be spread on the back garden area.
As ever a very satisfying task made all the better by the lovely surroundings (check out some cool photos from Katie and Ben) and great company (Robocop chat and 1980s VHS reminiscences!) and by the end of the hour we had made a significant dent in the work. As always there is plenty of maintenance so we will be back next month but for this session we were done and ready to head back.
A quick sweetie distribution for energy and we set off back to base or home and big thank you to all the team for another excellent task.
See you next time! :0)
