Litter-bit tidier

Tuesday 15th July

Written by Ella J (She/her)

The clouds were threatening rain but luckily didn't let loose during GG time! A new CBH location The clouds were threatening rain but luckily didn't let loose during GG time! A new CBH location for us at GoodGym Colchester. We spent a productive 45 minutes picking litter from hedges, garden and the car park at Grymes Dyke Court and managed to get a fair haul.

Shout out to the residents for being very welcoming and grateful and providing us with non-alcoholic Pimms refreshment (with a top secret ingredient) after the task! We will be back!

Junior Park Run

Sunday 6th July

Written by Louise (She/her)

3 GoodGymers helped to marshal the Junior Park Run. It was a busy Sunday morning, with a fair and market on the same site, and so the core team were greatful for the additional support to keep everyone safe.

P.S. yes, I did forget to take any photos, but luckily there was a photo of all 3 GoodGymers on the Junior Park Run Facebook page....albeit Where's Wally style...

Raiders of the lost chard

Tuesday 8th July

Written by Helen

A lovely evening for getting some extra steps in to tend Pam's allotment. Louise, Ray and Alex headed north via a meet up at the Mercury, whereas Stu and Helen took a short cut. We divided up the tasks, grabbed some tools and got stuck in. Louise made the plot look super tidy by strimming, Ray bravely tackled the prickly brambles which had popped up everywhere, Alex made a dozen trips to the water tank, and gave everything a really good drink, Stu weeded the vegetable beds, and unearthed a surprised beetroot, and a very tall chard, and Helen weeded the potatoes and corn. The allotment looked much better and Pam was really grateful for our efforts. Well done everyone 👏 👍

Cleaning at the warm bank

Tuesday 1st July

Written by Frazer

5 Goodgymmers made it to the food bank this time, with a couple new faces joining us, welcome to Adeyinka and Alexander!

It was a strange task, mostly due to the crazy heat making it one time we'd really prefer and outdoor task, and with energy low we'd opted to sweep and hoover but leave the mopping for another time. There was also a sparsity in the foodbank, owing to its imminent shutdown, meaning it could be our last outing there...

Happy to help where we can and enjoyed welcoming some new members, onto the allotment next week!

Strim, weed, soil

Tuesday 24th June

Written by Ella J (She/her)

Four GoodGymers spent a lovely warm and sunny evening at the Colchester in Bloom allotment. We watered, weeded, dug, strimmed and debagged some fresh soil to help rejuvenate a bed ready for something new.

Eight hands make light work, well done all especially Hridyaand Rayfor your first allotment task! And Louisewho showed serious strimmer skills!
