On a sunny Monday morning , Lucy & Will ventured over to Borough from Brent & Victoria to support Borough Food Cooperative (BFC) with packing, stacking and cleaning in readiness for their weekly shop openings. The successful initiative was launched off the back of the Covid pandemic, providing an inclusive and cost-effective supply of groceries and essentials to the local community, whilst reducing food waste. Under the expert instruction of the BFC Shift Leader, Lucy & Will were on hand to receive deliveries from charitable food distributors, including The Felix Project, then get the shelves stacked for future customers! From crates of spinach, an abundance of bananas to Creme Egg filling(!), an array of items were brought into the care of BFC. Special shout-out to Lucy for her inaugural GoodGym task and for offering a further hand to BFC before she embarks on her world travels!

Monday morning's session went well and the delivery arrived. All went in ready for BFc on Tuesday.

I showed up at BFC just in time for the morning delivery. The delivery van spaces next to the church were taken so we had to improvise with a makeshift trolley to bring all the trays a hundred metres down the road. There was a lot of red cabbage so hopefully there'll be some fans of that coming tomorrow. All stacked up nicely and all in the cool of BFC which is located in the church crypt. So if you want an activity away from the heat, sign up!

Melissa and Greta were hard at work sorting through yellow cucumbers when Jo arrived and started on the carrots, which culminated in the setup of a "carrot walk", all shapes and sizes welcome here!

Louise soon joined and the four of us made our way through lifting, shifting, bagging and sorting a solid selection of potatoes, peppers, bananas, bread, couscous, plus a fridge full of herbs and greens, before Melissa had to slip off, and the other three swept and struck a pose to call it afternoon well stocked.

Sabera,Katie and Amber came in from the heat to sort all the veg, fruit and pies for the Borough Food Cooopeative. Plenty cabbages, pies and other items too. All ready for the shoppers.
