Trust(ee) in me!

Monday 2nd September

Written by Liz (She/her)

An annual task for us that means a good walk rather than a run, delivering leaflets Richmond CVS to advertise their upcoming Trustee Recruitment evening.

The group met at the Tap as usual for an intro and a chat about some upcoming tasks before heading into surrounding residential streets to deliver the leaflets. Many hands make light work and within an hour all leaflets were posted, with time to admire some doors, front gardens, a passing fox and a hairless cat!

Relief all round

Sunday 12th May

Written by JP

Sammy P and JP got together on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to post leaflets for the Volunteer Fair organised by Richmond CVS.

It was wonderful to walk the streets of St Margarets, basking in the warmth of the sunshine and the glow of doing our bit for the local community.

Having said that, it was a relief to finish by 4:30 and to watch a good football team beat a bad football team… relief all round!

The year to volunteer

Saturday 24th February

Three of us delivered charity leaflets to nearly 400 homes between Richmond and North Sheen. These charities were the elderly person support network Richmond Good Neighbours and the Richmond Volunteer Service, you can have a read about all the great things they do in the photos above and there's even a QR code to the volunteer service website!

The Four Leafleteers

Sunday 21st January

Written by JP

It was much warmer this morning than the last few days, which we appreciated as we met at Richmond station to deliver leaflets for Richmond CVS.

Four GG members were on hand to add to the mission and kilometre tally for the January challenge, and we took on the roads to the south of the town centre.

There were quite a lot of leaflets but we got through them all (with a pit stop for a cuppa) and felt satisfied to have done our bit of good for the day!

Baby You’re a Flyer-work

Saturday 2nd September 2023

GoodGym Richmond’s weekly Saturday morning task was to help delivery leaflets for the Richmond CVS group - an organisation that helps support local charities, volunteers and community groups in the Richmond borough area. They are looking to help some of the local charities find new trustees and supporters, and have an event planned for later in the month for this. Our job this morning was to spread the word!

JP and Beth came armed with leaflets - huge piles of about 500 pamphlets to be dropped through the doors, and we split them up between the five of us and head up towards Kew Road to do our best post-man impressions. Chris was in fact so convincing, the Royal Mail man nearly offered him his job!

We split into two groups - Rob and JP working together, and Lucy, Chris and Beth in a team, and snaked our way around the side streets. Topics of conversation today included what our ideal letter box would be like, West Ham being top of the league and a debate about fake crocodiles in ponds (inspired by one of the local residents)! We managed in very efficient style to keep meeting bang on Kew at the end of the roads we were covering, and in an hour and a half, all of the leaflets had been delivered to local flats and houses. Fantastic work for an hour and a half - and over 7000 steps completed in that time!

It was great to welcome Rob back after a GoodGym hiatus, and shout out to Beth who was on a streak and finished this task to head to another! Hope to see you all on Monday for a litter pick with a difference, thanks to the Athletic Brewing Company!

Share Fair

Sunday 7th May 2023

This morning it was a walking task, delivering leaflets for the upcoming May Fair and the Volunteer Fair.

Fortunately the rain took a break and it was quite a warm morning as 4 of us set off from the station armed with stacks of leaflets, having given a pile to Lucy to deliver later in the day.

The piles were pretty heavy so we were glad to start dropping them in letterboxes. We split into two pairs and went up to the Vineyard and the roads off it, then Onslow and the roads off that.

By the time we finished we had diminished the stacks quite a lot (thank goodness for blocks of flats!) but still had a good wedge which we dropped off at ETNA. Good to get the job done and still two days left of the weekend!
