Mud Mud Glorious Mud!

Thursday 23rd January

Written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Tonight's task was Mud-tastic. A last minute change meant the planned indoor uniform sort at Windsor Girls' School was transformed into a mud shifting assignment. GoodGym likes nothing more than getting stuck in so Sheila, Devon, Michelle, Jen, Sol and Amanda didn't clay around and dirt-ifully got on with the new plan.

Jen went to find some cardboard to lay down by the flower beds whilst the rest of the team began digging up the dirt with muddy gloves and dustpan brushes! It was a hilarious task that kept everyone nice and warm on this cold evening. Michelle was a super star channelling mud into buckets before switching things up with Sol who had laboured away lifting and shifting buckets of mud between fields. Sheila never tired and put her muscles to use shifting tonnes of dirt. Devon did so much of the heavy lifting (thank you!) and Jen made sure everything was in order on the delivery end. After an hour's hard work the team headed back to clean up and take some well-earned selfies. We were surprised by how much was moved in the end, despite our lack of appropriate tools - it just goes to show the power of the GoodGym mindset and community! We will be back soon to sort those uniforms (and be treated to the indoor task!). Well done team - you were mud-nificient!

Allot- ment to do!

Thursday 21st March 2024

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tonight we went back to help The Friends of Windsor Girls School with setting up their new allotment area. This will be used by the gardening club for the pupils and so the vegetable plot thickensโ€ฆ ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

This was a community mission so we met at the The Binoy. Jen went ahead walking and Bekah and Mandy ran. Adam met us at the task.

Task owner Julie was waiting for us and gave Adam, Jen, Bekah and Mandy the brief. As expected Julie had everything totally organised and helped us lots during the task which helped us power through to complete the job. Whatever she says grows ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

There was a pile of loose topsoil to move to the other side of the school. So Adam took that job on initially by filling containers to then trolley round.

Meanwhile Jen filled the planting boxes with cardboard as a base layer while Bekah and Mandy carried round the bagged topsoil from the front of the school.

The cardboard needed watering down so there were lots of trips to the tap.

Adam and Mandy got more topsoil and made plenty of trips transplanting ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ it all to the required area with budding ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ enthusiasm. They were not going to throw in the trowel ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

Then it was spreading the shredded Christmas tree which on top of the cardboard. This smelled amazing.

Then we could finally get all that topsoil on that we had collected.

We could see it was growing well ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ and all the planters were completed! We did it just in thyme ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

After the task we added a quick Windsor curtsy and bow ๐Ÿ‘‘ and made our way home.

Thank you to everyone for coming you certainly got your work out tonight ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿปa very hardy bunch ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ of GGs ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Class of (15.02) โ€˜24 - School Report!

Thursday 15th February 2024

Thursday at 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Tonight we helped The Friends of Windsor Girls School with their exam desk up- grade.

This was a community mission so we met at the The Binoy, did our own warm up and some had a social walk while others enjoyed a social run.

On arrival we took the register and were met by the task owner Julie who educated us about the time-table and the brilliant work stations she had organised for us.

Typical GG behaviour of taking on the challenge of a huge amount of desks but we got the music on and were 100% focused.

Jenni was on desk sorting by removing tape and any other yukky bits, moving them through to the woodwork students Sheila, Adam, Sol and Mandy for the rub down. Jen was revising her domestic science by wiping off the dust. Then onto The art class, Bekah and Chris were painting really accurately. Helen was doing fine art brush drying and the heavy lifting of the tables outside for drying. Until the rain when they had to come back in again ๐Ÿ˜ฌ great team effort! We could not have done better.

A double period of 1 hour and 10 minutes later the bell rang and we calculated 94 tables were totally finished. We passed the test and came top of the class! A * performance all round! And Jen got her medal for being extra good with 400 GoodGym tasks!

Most of the class were allowed home but four got detention and had to stay behind for a PE lesson of basket ball and netball practise.

We all had the best time and schools definitely not out for GoodGym!
