Whoops bunny , bunny, bunny, whoopsies!

York Report written by Jenna Drury (she /her)

Thank you to all the good eggs that came to this task. Sometimes, GGers are the only people for the job - or jobs, as we found out! First we put up the big gazebo and set up tables outside. Then we scoured the lawn and picked up all the pooh! What pooh? Well, rabbit, cat, fox and bird jobs as it happened! No body complained at getting the shit tasks! The Easter bunny had certainly left his/her mark! Abi was let off picking up, due to being 'with child'. She pointed out holes that may cause a trip hazard for the children with visual impairments. 'Shit galore!' exclaimed Abi, enjoying watching us at work! After thoroughly washing our hands, we covered any thistles with picnic blankets. We then sorted out the plastic eggs. The larger ones needed fresh batteries to get their beep back. These were talking eggs! Eggxtra care was taken to lay them in position for little hands to find. Finally we carried the hundreds of chocolate eggs to the swapping stall, where plastic magically becomes cocoa. Marvellous! The Wilberforce House team were so grateful for our help. The sun is out for a fantasic afternoon ahead.

Cape Town

York Report written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)

Today we started by celebrating some amazing milestones- Leanne doing 1200 good deeds, Amy doing 300 and Neil 50! They all wore their capes with pride!

We also congratulated David on running an amazing 50km ultra on Saturday (and still able to run tonight), and the many runners who did the Helmsley 10k. We also marveled at Rich cycling back from the lakes!

After naming and numbering off, and saying what we'd do to help the planet in honour of earth day tomorrow, we set off to the cemetery.

We were met by Clive and set to task clearing an area of brambles to make way for tree planting later in the year. After 45 mins of graft we'd made good progress and also uncovered some hidden graves.

To finish the session, the new discs of delight came out which involved doing lots of our favourite exercises. If your disc said hunt your team got to go hunting for eggs. Winners got a creme egg then we headed back to base. We promised Clive we'd be back soon to finish off so watch out for that task.

The long, the short and the inbetweeners

York Report written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)

We met tonight for a social run to kick off the bank holiday weekend.

Everyone assembled in Poppleton and we welcomed new comer Louise who was visiting from London.

We set off at our different paces only to end up back together at the train crossing - quick photo opportunity- then back off again. All groups included the Knapton community woodland and the strava segment, with some records being broken.

We then trotted about the area in our three packs and met back at the White Horse pub for some delicious food and an evening of good company.

The Red Barrows đŸ›Šī¸

York Report written by Ed Woollard (He/Him)

It was back to West Bank Park tonight to carry on with last week's task of emptying the compost bins into wheelbarrows and running them over to the skip in the car park.

Before setting off we gave a round of applause to Vicky and Helen who had completed the Wensleydale Wander at the weekend and also welcomed Becca along for the first time. Give her some cheers 🎉

After a quick titanic themed warm up, it was the off to the task with Ed leading the run out and Nick leading a walk/run group which, by all accounts, was mire run than walk!

At the task we were greeted by Kristina from the council's eco team who got us to focus on one area rather than the 2 we were spread across last week. Mitch and Vicky were our designated skip people to help with coordinating the inbound wheelbarrows.

I want to join the Red Barrows - Leanne

The tactic of sticking to one area seemed to work and the crew got into a good rhythm with their shovelling and barrowing. So much so that they started to get creative whilst running with the wheelbarrows, with Nick being very keen to show off the first ever outing of the GG 'Red Barrows'.

As the task drew to a close there was just enough time for Michael to completely empty his compost bin. He was so proud of this achievement that he demanded we got a photo of it. Well done Michael 👏

For fitness, the group split into two teams and picked cones with either a set of exercises or an "egg" underneath them. The team with the most eggs would be declared the winner. Although thanks to a lot of luck and a little bit of cheating from Lyndsey, it really wasn't much of a contest at all!

Boaty McArts Space

York Report written by Ed Woollard (He/Him)

After such a fab session last weekend, we headed back to the Arts Barge to carry on with the spruce up. Most of the activity was focused around removing weeds from the landing.

GoodGymmers were armed with hoes, shovels and brushes as we gathered the unwanted growth and got it bagged up, ready to be taken away

Meanwhile, Michael was busy on fire duty, getting rid of the wooden debris we'd gathered last week and burning it on top of a bonfire worthy of any scout leader

Other notable activity included Nick being well chuffed with his saw, and Fergie falling out with the Art's Barge's dog, Frieda

After the task was completed we sat in front of the bonfire for a few beers as the night drew in
