Thanks to our 5 hard working Good-gymmers, we raced through the main tasks of planting the new shrubs and watering them in. Jennie was then very happy to have us on hand to dig the edges of the beds to redefine them clearly; weed out the rampant marjoram and give the wicker circle a massive haircut to neaten it up for winter. If anyone would like to join Jennie and her regular volunteers she would be very happy to hear from them. The land had been re-purposed from the old bowling green and is used daily by staff, and families of visitors at Addenbrookes as a place of quiet contemplation and calm or for the children to run and play safely. Jennie's enthusiasm and dedication is amazing!

A working party was cutting hawthorn from the banks of the gravel pit channel. They were a very friendly bunch, led by the RSPB assistant warden. It was great to get out on a chilly but bright morning and we soon warmed up. After lunch we went to check (from a distance) on the herd of wild horses living on the part of the reserve which is not open to the public yet. It felt a real honour to get such an awesome experience!

Ann has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Ann is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

First official Community good deed for Cambridge GoodGymmers!
We all had a great time helping with various jobs and we were made very welcome by Jen and her Park Run team. There were lots of us, so they would have been very short handed without GoodGym.
We then HAD to have a cake and a cuppa in the community cafe, which led to a new contact for GG supporting other community activities at the Country Park.
All good!

Supported Fen Drayton RSPB Nature reserve with renewing 27 fence posts. Heavy to carry across fields which the land rover couldn't drive on, but gave me a good work out!

Ann earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Ann completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Ann was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Helped the RSPB nature reserve volunteers to clear rotting fence posts and thrash a way through the brambles so the professional fencers could get in to replace them. PS This is for Cambridge, but we ate not on the list yet! Had to put Camden as nearest word!
