Footwork the game, Flyering was the aim tonight at Goodgym Bath for the fabulous 14 with a 5k run around Bath to help spread the word for The Forever Friends Appeal, Fire and Ice walk (are you brave enough)?! Why not give it a bash http://www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk/events/fire-walk it's gotta be on your bucket list .. surely!!
Great turnout again on this chilly evening. Some free shoelaces to dish out to those who bring a friend along during January and February, so Emma, Lydia and Nicola get to model them first, well done ladies!! And welcome to GG RACE TEAM. Emily, Pascale and Steph race vests on there way, so never a better time to join with lots of races planned for the year ahead.
Welcome back to Mary who's been out of action since the ice skating incident, so with warm up and ever confused headcount out of the way They make it so difficult... ha!! But tonight was SMOOTH.
A lot of ground to cover tonight but no chance to FEEL THAT CHILL with some naturally occurring hill reps thrown in (they didn't even notice) well maybe they did with the hilly route planned and OH MY! we have hills in Bath. First a few bars to flyer as it seemed the obvious place for people to talk themselves into a challenge with squats galore for the remainder of the group outside.
They worked pretty hard tonight but everyone put a massive effort in from the group strength training at The Circus with everyone picking their favourite exercise to speedy flyering on route and when they thought it was all over, we topped off with a variety of strength training in the Abbey churchyard and The 2minute plank went down a storm, Lydia requested some tricep dips to finish them off.... Perfect!!
A short run with a final sprint to the leisure centre to stretch out those lovely muscles. Dora tried to post herself into the bin, surely not that bad tonight, but it caused a giggle or two.
Thanks to everyone we managed to shift all of the flyers in time.
Pun of the evening goes to Sam (he does work for The Bath Chronicle after all) .. nice pun Sam. Thanks Pascale for back marking
A reminder if you wish to get paired up or go on missions, please bring your ID along to the next group run for Emily or myself to verify and get you on your way. Any questions please just ask away, it's so rewarding. We have 5 isolated people waiting to be paired up so let's make this happen.
Quiz night this Thursday at The Boater starting at 8pm so let's show them how it's done!!

Fantastic turn out at Goodgym Bath tonight... whoop!! 17 runners turned up on this cold evening for a 6k run and each and everyone of them armed with an unwanted hat/gloves, coat or blanket to hand out to the rough sleepers in the city. I think it's important to feel thankful for what and who we have in our life, because any set of circumstances can change how and where we live.
Great to see some new faces this evening, welcome introductions during the headcount to Charlotte and Abi. (Red laces on the way for Lydia, Nicola and Emma). Tony Gambiccia who cycled across from Keynsham to donate a coat and Matthew Palmer who kindly took our group photo on his way out from spinning, hopefully they'll join us soon. Thank you guys. Time to hit the streets and cover as much ground as we could in search of rough sleepers, It wasn't long before the group were able to start handing out everything needed to help keep someone a little bit warmer and some lovely very grateful people out there tonight to make use of our unwanted items.
We even had time for some sprint work tonight in the form of sprint 3's plus some agility work and of course some walking lunges as requested by Lydia, although she did get a few side glances from the group members...ha!! Love enthusiasm in the group. A bit of furniture fitness on the benches in the Southgate centre with a final clothes drop on Pultney bridge before heading back to the leisure centre for a few stretches. Great fun tonight with lots of laughter, not only because Joe was like the caped crusader running around and Sam was trying to hand stuff out to people who weren't homeless but still happy to receive a free jumper.
Thanks to Abi for tonights pun and to Pascale for back marking.
You guys are all fabulous and remember without you, it wouldn't be possible, there is also a chance to bag a free pair of red laces if you bring a friend along during Jan and Feb.
Bring your ID along to the next group run to get paired up or go with n missions.
Don't forget The Boater quiz on Thursday Jan 26th at 8pm.
