Oliver been to three different GoodGym areas.
A Tourist likes nothing better than exploring new areas and meeting new people, and that's what Oliver has been doing. Oliver has been to three different GoodGym areas now - nice!

A Fab-Fifteen GoodGymers, including several visitors from other areas, descended on Greenwich Naval College where we speculated on our dream 1:1 tuition, before decamping to the college lawns. There we embarked on a fun-filled warm up in the sunshine, featuring a frantic game of tag, followed by “pass-the-cuddly-toy”, while avoiding a well-dressed march-past of dignitaries.
We then ran (some people power-walked) to the Peace Garden at Christ Church. One group took apart a planter and shovelled the soil into large bags and flower-beds. Others cleaned flower-pots and cleared the bits-between-paving-stones of stubborn weeds. The difference we made in a short time was a sight to behold.
Returning to the lawns, now fortified with water, grapes and biscuits, we embarked on a few knee-creaking exercises, before staggering away for food and rest, reflecting on another job well done.

We haven't been back to the site of the Forest School for a couple of months as the designers and landscapers have been beavering away and making plans for the space. It was fantastic to be back there in daylight and to see how big the space actually is.
We had 2 tasks for the evening, 2 very big tasks:
We split into groups and began clearing the space. As it was a shorter run, we had plenty of time to get stuck into the task and make a real difference.
After a missing pruning saw was found, it was time to head back to Glass Mill slightly later than planned but time flies when you're having fun!

Oliver done 50 good deeds and got their black t-shirt
The next time you see Oliver, they might be wearing black instead of red. They've completed 50 good deeds with GoodGym and have earnt their black t-shirt. Give them a nod when you next see them.

The sun wasn't quite shining for us but it wasn't pouring with rain which I'd say was an improvement in weather and required no one to be testing the waterproofness of their jackets.
We were heading to our favourite pocket garden, Luxmore Gardens, to continue tackling the weeds that have overtaken the plants in the flower beds and to begin mulching the weeded areas to protect our hard work.
There was lots to get stuck into and after a quick briefing on what to remove and the priorities, armed with tools we got stuck in.
We had groups clearing the weeds across various flower beds and a team of Miguel and Isaac moving the mulch back and forth (and sweeping up after the final bag was filled). Fantastic work team, we made a huge difference in a short space of time?
How many Goodgymers stood on the plastic frog thinking it was a real frog? Answers in the comments!
We'll be back at Luxmore Gardens in 2 weeks to continue what we've started and there maybe an option for some painting!
At the weekend we have the potential for multiple good deeds on Saturday (or just the 1): - Litter picking at Catford Parkrun @ 10.00 - Helping in the garden at St Mary's Church @ 10.30

Lewisham Report written by Lewisham runner
In a fitting tribute to Kim’s impressive exploits at Sunday’s Windermere Marathon, this week saw GoodGym Lewisham tackle our own long run! For the first time we’d be running around 4km to the PNK Garden, right on the border between us and our neighboring Borough of Southwark.
With everyone kindly arriving a little bit early, enabling a timely departure from Glass Mills, we had only a few moments to welcome along Rawan for her very first GoodGym run before we were off. With typical Lewisham efficiency, the finer points of an introduction were covered off on the move as we headed to and through Deptford before arriving to be greeted by Lara.
Lara instigated the PNK Garden project early in the pandemic as a way of clearing the waste ground adjacent to Lower Road and directly in front of her flat. Now nearly 2 years later, the space has been transformed beyond recognition to a wide open area with scope for planting and use by the local community.
Our initial group of 12 divided in two to tackle tasks at either ends of the garden; 7 to begin weeding the southern (Lewisham) end whilst 5 prepared new planting beds in the northern (Southwark) end.
Just as a brief rain shower swept in, our spirits and numbers were lifted as the southern group were bolstered by two Victorias; one from Lewisham and one from Greenwich! Meanwhile the northern group were one bed down, duly filled with staged layers of sand and earth, and were motoring through lining bed two.
With the south now looking clear, it was time to start covering the new space won back from nature with woodchip to keep future weeds at bay.
Sadly with a long run comes reduced working time and before we knew it we were tidying away gloves and tools and readying ourselves for group photos, perched around the pallets neatly stacked early by Alison and Rawan. After a quick thank you to Lara for hosting us, and a promise to return for future tasking, the group headed back across the border into Lewisham and started the long journey back to Glass Mills.
Next up: our monthly social at Lewisham Lanes – see you there!

Cheers Oli for leading this session and I'm glad you could help out Lara too! Hope you can visit her again in the future despite the long run! 💪

Our international medal monday-er's weren't in attendance last night but Marta and Jenny battled 31degrees heat on Sunday to complete Lisbon half marathon! Go give them a huge cheer.
Francesca also started the week with double good deeding and spent the day helping Salvation Army in Catford brighten up the front. We'll hopefully be heading back to help finish the job. Great work!
We started the evening with a quick warm up that ended with star jumps to get us moving. It was a longer (and hilly) run this evening and on a warm evening it was pretty tough going but we made it there and back in one piece!
As always, the list of tasks to get stuck into at Seniors is always a varied one, we had: - Miguel turning the compost heap and then watering the veg - Sam Sam repotting the seedlings - Julian and Francesca cleaning the windows inside and then moving onto sanding a bench (ready for us hopefully painting on our next visit) - Oli x2, Adam and Steve tackling the overgrown beds and removing the stubborn grass and weeds
After group photos on 3 different phones, it was time for us to make our way back over the hill and down to Glass Mill. The temptation to stop at Mamma Dough for pizza was high but we'll save that for a couple of weeks time.
We're heading back to Seniors on 13th June.

Sorry to miss it Kim - but didn't think my tired legs could handle all the way to Seniors and back 🤣
