Congratulations to Louisa on her 100th good deed tonight, I don't think we mentioned it. We look forward to seeing the "wings" t-shirt next year.
Thanks to Viv for the report title (and, yes, I did Google how to spell Wenceslas!)
Tasks of the evening were to empty the contents of a van into the Community Kettle premises and to break up all the plasterboard and put it into small bags for disposal. Jen was particularly happy to take part in the breaking bit. We also (almost) put up and took down one gazebo and then put up a smaller one.
Once the jobs were completed, Nicole had some festive games up her sleeve and the evening got serious.... although some competitors took it more seriously than others. No-one will forget the stocking fillers that Team Wheelbarrow were suggesting. Team Dasher were the victorious team and got to take home the coveted prize teapot. Hopefully Lucy and Duncan got it home in one piece. (UPDATE: it did, see photo!)
A few rounds of Quality Street, Biscuits and festive chocolate fingers later and we were ready to head back into the cold.
Have a very Happy Christmas and keep up those good deeds. See you for the January Challenge in 2023!

Viv Palmer completed their first weekend mission.
Viv has forgone the usual weekend routine. Instead of lie-ins, roasts and strolls around the park Viv has dropped everything to run a GoodGym mission for someone who needed help. Respect
Sunday 6th November 2022
Viv Palmer run their first missions with GoodGym.
Viv has just done something they've never done before. Viv has just run a mission; they've changed their running route and run to help someone who really needed their help.

We managed to get a window of dry weather in amongst the crazy torrential rain of Sunday.
We reclaimed the flower beds around the lady's garden, battling plenty of weeds, dandelions, something that looked like coriander and a corner full of mint. Fortunately no stinging nettles!
1 hour and 3 bin bags later, plus a good amount of mud on us and we could see the flower beds again. Win!!

A big welcome to Viv who came to her first group run session tonight.
We warmed up with some frisbee which included confusing the caretaker who was (rightly) worried about his windows. Birthday girl (& international athlete) Louisa was our most consistent thrower and catcher.
Once it got a bit too difficult to see the black frisbee we decided it was time to dig into Jen's baking for a sugar high to power us through our gardening task.
The gardening club had focused on clearing the leaves so we were left with the "adults only" task of weeding the planters and pulling up the nettles. We're definitely getting better at protection.... fewer stings than previous visits but plenty of swearing when we were caught! The brambles (other names may have been used) were hiding and also tried to inflict injury. No incident forms were needed fortunately. Good job there's not a "near miss" form with close calls on falling into a hole & emergency stops with the bag full of nettles.
The compost heap had many visits and the old pond area is much clearer. Hopefully we'll get some cover down so that the roots die off too.
Tonight's interesting fact courtesy of quizmaster Tony was Levi Roots' real name.... Perhaps Keith Valentine Graham's sauce wouldn't have sold quite so many units!
