Last night eight GoodGym-ers headed to the FaB Foundry Pantry at Oasis Foundry Academy, including six who set off on foot from the Jewellery Quarter.

This is the sister hub to the pantry we painted a couple of weeks ago so it was great to see the rest of this community initiative, which focuses on reducing food waste by selling surplus produce at affordable prices with the funds going back into the community.

A bit of recycling needed to go out for collection, but the big task was shifting some gym equipment upstairs. Hub Leader Megan explained that the kit, which included a treadmill and a weights machine, were donated to the school a while ago but weren't regularly used, so were moved to a new home in the pantry building. Unfortunately, getting it into a dedicated space up a set of stairs was a tricky job so the kit had stayed on the ground floor for about a year.

It's exactly the kind of task we love at GoodGym: strength training combined with puzzle solving. The stairs were narrow with plenty of corners, so we had to go in search of tools to take the weights machine into pieces then shift it all using muscles and teamwork. In 45 minutes Megan and the team had more room downstairs, the community had a private, affordable gym, and we'd got some exercise.

We're hoping to be back at FaB Foundry Pantry soon for more tricky tasks!
