Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Newbs
With a super moon gleaming down on our bonces we welcomed newbs Sarah, D, Collette, Shoko and first timers to Islington Senay (from Haringey) and Anne (from Tower Hamlets).
Homeward Bound
And how lovely to see Sarah M. again. Now fully recovered from running 42.2k in a single session!
Boobs
Then there was Caroline "Faster" Townsend who'd brought along "boob biccies".
Sore head
And Danica, who smashed her 5k PB on a hangover. Interesting approach. Let's all try it.
Naughty
Speaking of records and that sort of thing. There was a new record for people failing to sign in tonight. FOUR! Including a Run Leader. Shocking. And then there was a certain run leader who signed in with her old email address. This isn't good. This is the opposite of good. This is bad. Bad Gymmers! Bad Gymmers!
Shed
Anyway, on to tasks. Two tasks tonight. Aidan led a team back to St Luke's for some shed action. Here's what occurred:
8 Goodgymers set off from Highbury Fields with St Luke's as our goal.
After a quick run down the beautiful Upper Street and down passed City Road we arrived at the lovely St Luke's Community Centre.
The task at hand was to move a shed about a foot along the floor. Alas, when we came to see the 7ft high shed our hopes of a successful job were lowered. It was a biiig shed.
Although with a great GoodGym-can-do attitude we weren't deterred. First we needed to clear the area which included but was not limited to; 20 bags of grit, 20 bags of soil, a collection of various sized chipboard, a barbecue oven, a long piece of plastic, a MacBook Pro cardboard box, three potted plants and of course a cuddly toy!...okay we're joking about the cuddly toy.
Once the area was clear it was time to test our metal. Were we worthy of shifting this shed. Did we have the muscle. Would we let this shed beat us?... Of course we didn't! With a great bit of teamwork and synchronised pushing we moved the shed. We were triumphant. Filled with happiness. We were all amazed. It was emotional. Coming soon, a movie based on this GoodGym task, in cinemas near you.
Aidan
HNP
The rest of us went in to teams to Highbury New Park. Caroline ably led the first group, while foggy-headed Simon got the second team very slightly lost (damn, should have played it off as a deliberate longer run), but got there in the end.
At the task we raked and bagged leaves, weeded beds, laid compost, planted daffs, cleared up sheets, and had a wine gum.
Loads done in 20 minutes or so. Great job everybody! And thanks to Zoë for hosting us.
Games
A jog back and Caroline's lot played a game of cups and cones while Simon's lot did a three-person relay and then a couple of hill sprints to show Highbury what we're made of. Beautiful.
Munch
Then Aidan led a stretch while the rest of us enjoyed Caroline's Boob Biscuits.
Politics
Debate time. We broke all the rules and got political: will Trump make America great again? Danny Abs reckons so (although we don't believe he thinks that). A few people thought no, a few people were sick of politics and a few people were so sick of politics and the pointlessness of voting that THEY DIDN'T EVEN VOTE IN THE GG ISLINGTON DEBATE.
Mulling it over
Post-run we bopped on down to the local boozer. They had a new feature as well. A bloody quiz. Thanks to Danny Abs for asking them to keep the racket down a bit.
Good news though, Patrick was there, arm in sling. And also Ben. And both wearing GG t-shirts. Remarkable.
During the pub visit we also decided that the pub should become a regular thing in Islington! However, in the future we will frequent those that don't have a quiz on.
See you next week
By the way. Next week we are having a special theme night! I will give you one clue only...
All my loving,
Simon

Was the theme Danica's idea?

No, but I thought of her

The idea actually occurred on the way home trying to sign the harmony to "Two of Us"
