21 AMAZING GG Yorkies dug a bed to plant wildflower seeds in the meadows at St Nicks.
We welcomed just one brand new runner this week - Ruth, give her a massive GG York cheer!
The traffic lights were not on our side this evening but we had lots of time for #trafficlightselfies which is going to be a big new theme for every group run. Paul and Nick were a huge help in leading and back marking for the group, thanks chaps.
After 2.6km, we arrived at St Nicks where we were met by the lovely Maria who led us to the meadows and explained that they wanted us to dig over a patch to clear the grasses and finish by sewing seeds.
We want to increase the biodiversity here at St Nick's - Maria
The team sprung into action and it wasn't long before everyone was doing amazing turfing skills. Team Griffin were on it with a super neat patch whilst Emily and Sheikha were the wheelbarrow extraordinaires, managing to navigate the lumpy meadow without dropping anything, amazing.
We'd cleared a decent patch in 26 minutes which gave us loads of time to sew and stomp in the wildflower seed, in fact it left us with two extra minutes to do lovely fitness exercises, yay!
Digging burns 200 calories an hour, at least! ..what about forking?
Our 2.6km run back to base was via a super fitness session where we side-stepped and skipped all over the place, in between press ups, tricep dips, mountain climbers and skater jumps (and more traffic light selfies).
Bev totally won at GoodGym tonight, smashing it with a sprint finish and the only person to beat the traffic lights. Nice one Bev.
See y'all next week!
