Report written by Brahma Pochee
Another unseasonably warm February day, with a brisker evening to follow, global warming signs in East London or just weather? Regardless we came together to partake in a low carbon evening of activity, like the humble community glue that you are. 15 of us to be precise, quickly touching on this week's random weekly question. "Favourite musical golden oldies?" Unfortunately I don't have 15 answers...We had Stevie Wonder, The Dire Straits (thought they were a 'sultans of swing' one hit wonder), Battisti (currently listening to 'Ancora Tu', very decent), Luther Vandross, Elvis - aka The King, Fleetwood Mac (both factions), Beach Boys, Rod Stewart, Charles Aznavour and Louis Armstrong amongst some of our vintage heroes.
Cody Dock to the South was our destination, a collection of jobs lined up by Simon. Building Bat Boxes, painting a container ceiling, sanding tables and watering...so just another Wednesday in Newham then. 45mins later we had 4 built Bat Boxes (the coveted best box award still an ongoing discussion), a watered lawn, 3 sanded tables and two varnished. and a half painted ceiling - not too shabby at all guys!
A wee 2mile warm down back to base and a touch of stretching to wrap up the night, believe some even had a liquid debrief. Cheers for a lovely evening all.
See you all next week, same time, same place, just finalising task, sign up here.
Ps. I'm Parkrunning in Barnet, Oakhill Park this Saturday (think my geriatric hip a tad better) - if anyone fancies some tourism and a bite after. If not, enjoy your local one and have a bloody great weekend
ps. now listening to Sultan's Of Swing. What a song and what a guitar solo.
over and out
