Report written by Michelle
Today 8 of us from west London Goodgym areas, Hounslow, Ealing, Richmond and Hammersmith & Fulham, made our way to Staveley Road to help with maintaining the tree beds.
This well known road in Chiswick is home to Cherry Blossom trees that the local residents try to protect and nurture through the year. With April being the time of year when the Cherry Blossom will be in full bloom the residents had asked for help to dig out the tree beds, to protect the bark from grass strimmers.
Harvey bonded with one particular tree and almost had to be prized away from it. Monika and Rebecca were painstaking in their work, weeding with such precision that the 4 tree beds they’d worked on were nothing short of immaculate when they’d finished. The roots of your labour paid off guys.
Over on the other side of the road Bethan and Alanna had their work cut out as they came under scrootiny from task leader Luis and Michelle, who were on a mission to get as many tree beds weeded as humanly possible. Admittedly the shape of their tree beds was a little hit and moss in places. Meanwhile JP, like Harvey, worked individually in a grass of his own and still managed to get more tree beds done than most.
After an hour and half we’d made our way along the road and filled two garden waste bins full of moss/ grass and weeds. Task complete it was time to celebrate our Big Friendly Giant Luis reaching his 200th good deed with a cake delivery from Salwa and to mark the occasion with a quick group pic. Today was doubly exciting with the return of our lovely Tish. So good to have you back with us!
Well done Luis. Thank you for finally attending your 200th good and here’s to many more!
