Meeting at the entrance to the Park and Ride, Vicky, John, Sinéad, Rachel, Rosie and Mel immediately started picking up litter and re-cycling - cans and bottles. Not wanting to carry it all with us, we made lots of little piles for collection on the way back. Getting across to the path leading to the beach there were lots of sweetie and crisp wrappers caught in the bushes which we quickly gathered whilst cyclists whizzed by. One cyclist commented on us being a group of people doing Community Service. He did have a smile on his face so we think he was only joking! Moving to the beach area, the tide was out which highlighted even more small bits of plastic, fishing line and general rubbish. We found bits of car, a random trainer, socks, more cans and bottles, a comb which almost became our "Beachcombers" pun! John then found some Mange Tout ("Mangetout, Mangetout" - another potential pun) and Mel a small Sweetcorn - we had the veg but no meat for a Sunday roast! There were alot of people out walking with or without dogs so we made the area a little more pleasant for them, but still lots to do another time. Making our way back we picked up the recycling, decanted and put the rubbish into a big bin, used the the glass bin, and took the cans and plastic bottles home for further re-cycling.
