With the season of mellow fruitfulness truly upon us, it was time for our regular jaunt to Chiswick House and Gardens to see what Autumn had brought with it to the beautiful grounds, and how we could help out.
It was just a short run, which was good news for all you racers this weekend. Whether it's parkrun, cross country or something even longer that you're facing this weekend, enjoy every minute of it! And a shout out to Steph for completing an epic Scottish challenge last week in challenging conditions to say the least.
We arrived to find the rest of the group waiting for us at the gate and together we assembled at the kitchen garden to find out our jobs for the evening in amongst the beautiful buckets of flowers, harvested apples and other lovely looking produce.
Stephen divided us up into two groups, the first (the ones who requested a more destructive job) disappeared into the dark to tackle some physical tasks including digging out tough roots. Meanwhile group number two were working hard in two greenhouses (and luckily avoiding the rain) weeding under the work benches. It was a beautiful place for a task surrounded by huge pumpkins and colourful gourds - reminding us that Halloween is just around the corner!
Unfortunately fitness was rained off, so tabata will have to wait for next week. If you're short of a bit of GG fun in the meantime, then why not sign up for this massive mission near Putney on Saturday - the more of us the better!
