Report written by Wayne
Firstly a big congratulation to Anne to completed the London Winter Run 10k over the weekend in a fantastic time in very blustery conditions.
🎉 Also a big happy birthday to Anne who was 64 yesterday (What would we do without her words of wisdom)🎉
This wet and windy evening Wayne, Anne, Alys, Katie Adam, and James met at Woking leisure centre to distribute some leaflets that Anne had organised through a charity that she supports.
Its a wonderful charity that offer practical and emotional support to local families helping them get back on their feet and develop the skills they need to cope. 🦸🏼♂️
We actually started off with a litter pick….😱 Wayne was getting the leaflets out of Anne’s bag when a gust of wind blew them all over the place, our reactions were just as quick once we gathered them all Anne distributed 6 bags with approximately 500 leaflets in each. We headed off battling the wind we approached our fist little close and split into two teams taking each side of the road we certainly made light work of it, with James getting the first house with a dog barking..🐶
There next road to target was the dreaded Hill, we have done plenty of sprints up this hill before but a gentle jog while delivering leaflets was not to bad.
Once we reached the top James really showed his age as the conversation went into 80’s classic movies James was shocked when Alys said that she had not heard or seen ‘Short Circuit’ (Johnny 5 Is Alive) 🤖. He nearly fell over when Alys said that she had only recently watched the ‘Goonies’ 😱
After completing the last road the group decided to go to the pub to have a birthday drink with Anne as well as drying off, Wayne headed home to watch the footy…
This Sunday we still require volunteer’s to help out at the junior park run….
Next Wednesday we are spreading some mulch around the park run course at Woking Park….
