At 8am there was torrential rain and the wind was howling but by 9.30am the sun was starting to poke through and 20 GoodGym Cardiff runners were in position to marshal, scan, token handout and generally cheer the children around the 2km course.

Well done to Peter who completed his 50th good deed and took on the role of tail runner along with Claire. Their role came complete with a pin on fluffy tail for of each them.. it was quite a look!

Fiona was reunited with her trusty bin location from our previous time helping at parkrun on the start/finish stretch where she once again offered high 5's, smiles and cheers.

Nic had a busy time as funnel manager running up and down the funnel checking we were on the right number token for finisher's position.

Emma and Nathan did a great job of stopping mums and dads running with their child from running down the finish funnel with them as well as cheering the runners home.

Ben earnt his parkrun volunteer by both leading the warm up and then handing out the finish tokens and he had to run home after!

Ellen, Alice and Martin were team barcode scanners and did a great job of it too .. at the end of a very muddy finish funnel.

Up on Cowbells (the T junction where runners pass three times where cowbells are rang to encourage the runners) the GoodGym volunteers had a great time making lots of noise supporting the kids.

Overall we had a really enjoyable time and made a great impression on not only the children and parents.. many of who thanked us, but also on the junior parkrun core team so much so they want us back! So this was the first of our bi-monthly Junior Parkrun takeovers :) We even received a message of thanks from Stephen, one of the core team for the parkrun movement as a whole in Cardiff.

By 10.15am we were all finished. Many headed for coffee at a local cafe whilst others completed a 10K run along the Taff trail.

What a lovely way to start a Sunday!
