Goodgym throws up a mix of emotions - the endorphines from exercising with friends, the jokes and laughter and then there is the serious bit. Sometimes we visit charities or council homes and meet the staff who are helping people - we get a real sense of their amazing work and the importance of it. Other times we jog (and cycle) in the dark, cool drizzle to litter pick and we never meet the people involved! Perhaps I might look at people walking by and wonder 'do you throw litter on the streets and in bushes?' and furthermore 'why do you throw litter when there is a bin 50 metres away?' ! In 6 years of Goodgym the answer is still not clear but nevertheless, we get out there are clear up other peoples mess and make Colchester cleaner.

I am sure when people see us litter picking in the rain that something clicks in their heads and they think twice...

Tonight was a longer run (and cycle Andy ) from The Mercury to Colne Causeway to an area where people seem to throw litter into the bushes from cars and on their walks. We ran back via Old Heath Rec having collected a lot of cans of Jack Daniels, Dragon Soup and other energy drinks, a hub cap, a large plastic bumper(maybe), an inner tube and all the usual suspects and plastics.
