Report written by Colchester runner
11 Goodgymers ran to Firstsite to help cut back trees and bushes to improve the visibility and safety of the outside area.
There was lots of news this week with Ian, Katherine and Louise taking part in the Tiptree 10 miler, Ella and Tav were up at the Yorkshire 10 miler, Helen received her big 50 running shirt in the post today and I have been dabbling with getting my canine out running with me in the mornings - he will have his GG run vest in no time!
Our warm up was a group effort with us all adding a stretch or move into the mix before we set off on the incline up to Firstsite.
Eddie cheerfully greeted us and armed us with garden tools and saws, then we set off to the D lawn. Our task was to clear a section of trees and bushes, so that there is a clear line of site across the lawn to help improve the safety of the area. In no time at all we filled two large wheelie bins and created a pile ready to fill another once the bins have been collected. Eddie was impressed with the speed that everyone worked to cut back the trees and bushes!
After we tidied up and returned our tools it was time for a fitness session outside the Firstsite entrance. We did partner work that included lunges, jump squats, leg throws and sit ups. We then finished off with a plank off - Vanessa came in 3rd, Tav 2nd and Bob 1st with a time of 2mins 20sec.
Our run back to Leisure World was a quick one as we enjoyed the down hill slopes!
As always, a great team effort from everyone tonight.
Over and out.
