Last night at Goodgym
A big welcome to Adam , he has moved over from Cardiff and what a great asset to join the Woking GG team, Adam is a GG run leader and has a lot of knowledge to share. Welcome and we hope you enjoyed your first GG Woking experience!
Last night we met at Woking Leisure Center, we had a few goodies to give out for #greatgettogether. Wrist bands and stickers distributed and with a chat to explain what the The Great Together is about. If you didn't listen or if you missed it.... The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. We believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us. This is our chance. As the prime minister said, when she remarked on Jo’s death in her New Year’s message 2017, we have an opportunity to move forward and “bring this country together, as never before”. We discussed it's basically what we do... GoodGym helps bring people together from all communities and backgrounds.
We had a light jog to the playing field for a warm up game of Donkey Tails. You start with two Tails (ribbons) the aim of the game if not to loose your tails but to also steal others so you gain more tails. A great warm up game and it gets a little competitive. Adam won the game!!
After the warm up we headed to the FoodBank, the food bank is in the lighthouse building. Within the lighthouse there are many things happening. We were luckily enough to get a tour around to see all the other schemes which help many people around Woking. Don't forget you ever just fancy a coffee, pop in. The coffee shop is very nice!!
In the Foodbank we helped clean the floors, this helps keep the mice away and keeps the area clean. With everyone busy either hoovering or mopping. A quick team photo on the stairs and we were back off to Woking Park.
The bootcamp of dreams, with some time left at the end of the task we had time for a Nick Bootcamp session. Anne made a friend, a dog which wouldn't leave her alone until she threw the ball..... she wasn't throwing the ball!!!
We had Mark in zen mode - holding the squat position, looking so focused!! Warming the legs up even more with some Fartlek training and some core exercises. The faces people were making , made it look like you were enjoying every moment!! A Stretch and a chat at the end and we were done!
next week - we are heading to the RSPCA.... remember we meet here!! check out the details here
