Report written by Maxine VSG
This weekend was World Clean Up Day and the Package Free Larder challenged the people of Portsmouth to pick up some plastic or rubbish around their streets, anytime, anywhere, for however long!
Of course GoodGymers cannot turn down a challenge, especially one doing something we love so much - doing good, cleaning up our city and getting fit while we're at it! So, 8 (and a few half) GoodGymers tackled their local streets this weekend in honor of world clean up day :)
Mel gathered a huge haul and was so thankful for the Package Free Larder's challenge!
Katie CR, Sam & Holly (accompanied by little B) tackled Burrfields Road together sporting GG pride well, with a photo op in front of our very own MAKE scarecrow!
Jen visited our old GG Portsmouth stomping grounds and had a brimming plastic bag in just a matter of minutes!
Dr Jo Went to the beach to be pleasantly surprised by only one plastic wrapping, so instead watched the sun set while cleaning up Castle field
Maxine discovered how popular it was to leave half full beer cans on house walls and bins. Her bag fill stank of beer by the end of her walk!
Katie L gathered a large bag of rubbish around the block, including sadly some face masks - another problem of this virus! But had a brilliant story to share from her 2 year old who tagged along
2 year old shamed some chaps outside their local by pointing at all the cigarette stubbs at their feet and cheering "yay more ubbish pickitup pickitup" 😄 They told her they would!
Great work GoodGymers and keep an eye out for a week filled with Beach Cleans for the Marine Conservation beach clean week!
