Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James G
At the foodbank this week we had a new arrival, regulars and returning faces. The team of regular volunteers had as usual had a queue of clients for the whole of the time it was open with more deliveries than usual. This meant the warehouse was packed with crates of items that needed sorting and packages needed to be made up due to the large number of clients who had picked up parcels during the day.
Shift one of Alistair, Mikaela, Detti, Rosalind, Phil and Vanessa were sorting rice, pasta, beans, biscuits, tea among other things outside the back of the warehouse while we still had the light and it wasn’t too chilly! By the end of their time on the mission the space looked much better and it was significantly easier to get around the warehouse with some of the longer dated stock moved to the backup storage.
There was time for a brief chat at shift change time. Foodbank missions have been one of the constants in recent social calendars and some of the only times Goodgymers have been able to catchup with each other. Hopefully there will be the chance for more social events soon!
Shift two of new member Zoe, Naomi, Ella, Nick and James continued the good work sorting deliveries before moving inside to put together parcels for clients in the coming days.
The team was able to sort the bulk of the day’s deliveries, and leave the front of house staff with a pile of parcels to handed out to clients on Monday. Another good deed done and another good time had by all.
