Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kat Bruce
5 alarm clocks were set for the wee hours (love it when my Scottish heritage can meet with toilet humour!) and Goodgymers were up before the sun on the longest day of the year. A slight pink glow on the clouds hinted that we might have a pretty sunrise - the forecast was hit and miss whether we would just see varying brightnesses of grey to rain. Katie was running with us in spirit but covering the north portsmouth trails and Rosina was also out at the same time but sheilding socially distanced enough we didnt see her until we got to Eastern Lake.
With a low tide we ran along Southsea beach at the edge of the sea. We shared the beach with a group of local triatheletes who also had similar ideas but a dawn swim.
We arrived at Eastern lake just as the sun came over the horizon so stopped for a photo op' . A little further on we found Rosie also enjoying the golden orange sunrise which had made the early start worthwhile. After a good catch up we carried on over Milton Lock and up the eastern side of Portsea Island to the People Memorial with its Armed Services flags, white doves, flowers and sense of peace. From here we watched the sun slip behind a thickening cloud cover before turning for home.
