The first GoodGym Richmond group run for 2024 started with two great positive updates:
- the leaflets we helped to deliver last week for the Shooting Star Children's Hospice tree collection have helped to raise around £15K for the charity! 🥳😲
- we are off to a flying start with the January challenge, clocking up tasks, kilometres and active members everyday!
That put a much-needed spring in our step for the warm-up and run yo our sponsored riverside plot. The wind may have had a high chill factor, but the new year welcome was as warm as ever!
Three Pigeons Task Owner Anita was unable to make the session but had diligently written up notes for the team on what needed doing so that we could make the most of our time at Buccleuch Gardens.
❄️ Two people set about clearing leaves and weeds from the areas we planted up last summer around the benches. ❄️ One group headed to the Three Pigeons for weeding and leaf collection. ❄️ One group worked on the hard standing at Buccleuch Gardens to clear leaves and weeds. Including instructions to dispose of the leaves over the 'twiggy barricade' there, a term that only sounded more funny the more times it was heard!
Finally we had some fun recreating one of last year's most memorable GG moments when we attempted (very poorly) to create the digits 2023 with our bodies. As you can tell from these pictures, a year to practice has done nothing for our game! 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣
While the desire to catch up and chat was high, the temperature was far too low! Fortunately it was the day of the monthly drunks at Tap Tavern which is where most of the group headed off to after locking away the tools!
Thank you Chris and Rosie for deputising at the task. And to everyone for coming out in the cold to keep fit and do good!
There will be some follow up tasks listed for later this week, keep an eye on the listings!
