Report written by Chelmsford runner
This weeks (sort of) lockdown challenge was courtesy of Rachel. The idea was to run a virtual relay race, running as far as you can in 10 minutes to contribute to your teams total. There were 7 participants so the teams were split into 3 and 4, which did make it a little bit unfair, but only added to the competitive nature.
The teams were Team Litter Picker (David, Jenny and Rachel) and Team Leaf Raker (Andy, Laurie, Leanne and Sallyann). The team with the biggest combined total distance would be declared the winner. And boy did people go for it!!
There was talk of skydiving to cover the distance, but most people just tried to find a nice long stretch going downhill, not particularly easy in Chelmsford. But on Saturday and Sunday the runners logged their entries.
Team litter Picker managed a combined total distance of 6.34km but the winner is Team Leaf Raker with a combined total distance of 7.35km. Congrats team Leaf Raker!!!!!
Everyone put in a great effort. Infact some people ran so fast that (according to Strava) they recorded new PRs!! So a special shout out to David, who managed a new 1km and 1/2 mile PR, Laurie, who managed a new 1km PR and Leanne who managed a new 1 mile, 1km, 1/2 mile and 400m PR, whew!! Go Leanne!!
Well done everyone! Hopefully see you all again in real life soon on a Community Mission soon now that we are out of lockdown, we have one this Wednesday here, or at our virtual Christmas Party which you can find out about here.
