Report written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)
We're still "enjoying" the heatwave down on the South coast so tonight's task was perfect - another visit to the wonderful Hilsea Lido.
Welcome to Jo and Rob who joined us for their first group runs this evening.
This is one of the longest runs we do which isn't exactly ideal in the heat but we were going to water and everyone coped admirably!
We were put to work helping to tidy up after a busy day at the Lido (school holidays!) we watered the plants; litter picked and sanded a wall ready for painting tomorrow. Mel did a Cinderella and mopped the changing room floor, it was sparkling when she was done. This week's clothing find was a pair of soggy socks.
We then had to take a dip to cool off our sweaty selves and eventually squelched our way back down to Fratton. It was a great evening! Can't wait to see Sam's underwater photos. What everyone wants to know is did Angela double dip and go for a swim in the sea when she got home? Find out soon... or pop down to the Castle Road markets at the weekend and ask her (while you buy something from her!)
In other news from the last week - a big thanks to Charlotte, Shakira, Jo and Mel for their excellent work at the community missions at the weekend. Reports here: morning and afternoon
Next week we are off to Naomi House - it's a short run so great for beginners - please spread the word to anyone you know who hasn't come yet because of distance. Obviously a short run means more time for fitness sessions - yippee! But don't let that put you off!
We are back to the Lido on 15th August when we will MEET THERE so we can spend a bit more time on the task AND go for a run in my favourite place in Pompey. I thought it would be good to bring a picnic for afterwards as well for anyone who doesn't need to rush off. Sign up here
