Is there a better way to spend a sunny Saturday morning than with a bit of Parkrun tourism and doing-good in the community? I doubt it! Jess, Elizabeth and Hitch completed Brundall Parkrun in muddy conditions; this is a relatively small Parkrun comprising four laps around the community allotments. Congratulations to Elizabeth for coming first in her age group! I then met the runners at Springdale Residential Care Home where the team refuelled on tea and cake before being briefed on our task for the morning, which was to brighten the place up by hanging a series of pictures around the corridors of the home. These had been chosen to reflect the décor and act as conversation starters for the residents.

There were around 20-30 pieces of art that needed hanging. The four of us (plus mini GoodGymer Jasper) spent some time carefully considering the positioning of the images, this became more tricky when there was a collection of three canvases that needed to be hung in a row – accurate measuring, maths skills and a little bit of patience were required. Our confidence at hanging the art quickly grew after this triumph and we split into pairs to get the job done quicker. The team reassembled downstairs where another triptych needed to be put up, this time at a much speedier pace. By the end of the morning Hitch had become so confident in his art hanging abilities that he started adjusting the positioning of existing artworks. Nice work team – we nailed it!
