Baa Baa Barnsbury.... ๐ŸŽถ โšซ๐Ÿ‘

Woking Report written by Julie

...Have you any litter? Yes, sir, yes, sir, three bags full!

A big thank you to the 9 runners for this fun rhyme that perfectly sums up our evening! On a crisp January evening, Anne, Adam, Alys, Claire, Katie, Kirsty, Jack, Nadia and Julie gathered at the Leisure Centre for a warm-up before heading over to Barnsbury. There, we collected three full bags of litter from the pavements and verges, all while enjoying great conversation and camaraderie.

A special shout-out to Jack from GoodGym Head Office, who joined us as part of his January Challenge to visit as many regional sessions as possible. Once the litter pick was complete, and after a passing motorist kindly thanked us for our efforts, Anne led us on a quick uphill run. Nadia impressively demonstrated a fantastic burst of speed, leaving the rest of us in the dust!

We returned to the starting point feeling much warmer than when we began. A huge thank you to all who participated, your efforts made a real difference to our streets. We hope to see you at the next task!

Clogged & Confused ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

Woking Report written by Wayne

St John's Of The Baptist Church โ›ช๏ธ

This morning it was -6 ๐Ÿฅถ but that did not stop Woking GG Members Anne, Katie, Kirsty, Julie, & Nadia get out of bed scrape their windscreens and head to do the Brooklands Park Run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ followed by this mornings task at the church clearing the clogged hoppers and gullies ๐Ÿ

Wayne was planning to do the park run as well but unfortunately could not make it and instead was going to meet the girls at the church โ›ช๏ธ

Even though it was so cold there was a good turn out at the Park Run, with many familiar faces ๐Ÿ˜„

Anne completed the 5k as the fastest in her age group category ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Katie has been back out running after a short spell of illness and today got one of her PB 5K time ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Nadia who has really committed to her running schedule over the last few months did a GG PB completing the run under 30mins ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

Julie has recently started to do more park runs also finished in an amazing time ๐Ÿ˜„

Kirsty also completed the park run in a great time, could have been even better but being the caring and kind soul she is stopped while running to help a young runner tie his laces as his fingers were frozen โค๏ธ

A fantastic achievement by all the GG Girls on this bitterly cold morning, and all deserved a hot beverage straight after โ˜•๏ธ

Once the girls had finished and fueled up they joined Wayne at the church. Wayne had black bags ready and together we all walked around the perimeter of the church to clear the drains and gullies of the clogged leaves.

Once completed we had to moved all the black bags of leaves from a previous task to another location as a skip was due to come next week where they will be disposed.

In no time we had finished, Nadia was excited to be heading straight to Aldi to explore the middle aisles ๐Ÿคฃ while everyone else headed home to warm up.

Depending on the weather this coming Wednesdays task may change to a training session look out for updates. ๐Ÿ˜€

Have a great rest of the weekend and stay warm ๐Ÿฅฐ

It's snow joke!

Woking Report written by Katie J

Tonight Anne, Wayne , Nadia, Claire, Kirsty, Agathe, Luan and Katie took on the first Wednesday night task of 2025 - leafleting around the local area and spreading the word about Goodgym and "Yoga with Jim".

Anne led the group and Wayne made sure no one was left behind. Despite the freezing cold weather and sleet, the group ran over 5km around Woking. We hope that people feel encouraged to join GoodGym.

Will you help either:

  • on Saturday when we will take part in Brooklands parkrun then run to St John's The Baptist to help removing leaves from low lying gutters and gullies;

  • on Sunday to support Woking junior parkrun and join some of us cheering the young runners along their loop of 2 kms;

  • or next Wednesday when we will pick up litter along some of Woking streets?

Woking Report written by Woking runner

Alys, Anne, Kirsty and Nadia met at Goldworth Park to help the Rotary Club raise funds for various charities.

Before arriving for three different shifts at the entrance of Waitrose, Alys had completed the Woking parkrun. Nadia, whose aim was to finished the Homewood parkrun in less than 30 minutes before Christmas, did it in 28 minutes despite the muddy and hilly course. We are all impressed and delighted for her. Anne ran a 8kms course in the shape of a reindeer.

During our "shifts", we all tried to bring some smiles to the shoppers entering or exiting Waitrose! Some of us danced, used the buckets as kettle bells, complimenting the children on their festive attire or anything really, just to make the parents stop! We had lots of opportunities to chat with acquaintances who willingly helped to fill up our buckets. We observed that most gentlemen accepted the sweets provided by the Rotary Club while ladies declined our kind offer. We managed (especially Anne who cannot face learning about new IT skills) to take card payments.

All in all the time went quickly despite the cold and wet weather. Most people joined in the Christmas feel, helped by the festive music playing! ๐ŸŽถ Fa, la, la, la, la!

Both Kirsty and Nadia will have to do burpees and press-ups as they did not wear their festive red tutus!

You might want to join us tomorrow either marshalling at junior parkrun or taking part in the monthly 10 kms run at Polesdon Lacey. Otherwise we might see you on Christmas day at Homewood parkrun!

Happy festive running everyone!
