We were back to Southampton City Farm to help build up Goat Mountain once again. They have been busy setting up some new enclosures and areas so a lovely pile of compacted earth needed shifting. All of us got stuck in filling up the wheelbarrows helped by Danni from the farm. Chris was perfecting his run up ensuring we got all the earth in the right place. Naturally we had a great workout and a little pilates roll down afterwards to help ease out our backs. There will no doubt be another Goat Mountain session to come.

On a spartan, chilly morning Khadija and I joined the marshalling team for the Southampton Running Festival. A half marathon, 10k, 5k and 2k children's race. Welcome to Khadija on her first Good Gym task and well done as we were outdoors for just over four hours. We were stationed together out on the course and luckily we were sheltered from the biting wind. We thoroughly enjoyed hopping around cheering on all the runners. Great to see so many turn up and run; all ages and speeds. They had around 600 runners and all went well.

We joined the lovely folk of Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery on their monthly session. Welcome to Ashleigh on her first session with Good Gym Southampton. Woody woodpecker made his presence known and we were all delighted to hear the tapping call ringing out. A great fun task chopping up all the branches and old wood cut down to keep the area safe and tidy enough for the community who regularly visit the graves. Loppers at the ready although much merriment was had snapping twigs. Judy, myself, Lucy along with Ashleigh got stuck in with great gusto. Lots of fun filling lots of bags and a great opportunity to chat with all the other volunteers. I now have tool envy of the DeWalt Mini Saw they have. Always a pleasure to do this task as we are rewarded with refreshments in the old chapel afterwards.

Thanks Steph. (You may need to add Ashleigh via the register.)
Friday 31st January
Stephanie (She/Her) cheered 250 times.
Stephanie is one of the people that keep the GoodGym community alive and well. By cheering 250 times they've shown they're committed to supporting other runners. They are definitely a fan of what GoodGym is all about.

The Tubs went to the Pub 😊♻💰 - Last year over £12000 was raised for Macmillan Cancer and at the same time the tubs were recycled - so a double win.
Chuffed to see that the Tub to Pub scheme ran again this year and lovely that the task got sign ups from other areas. As well as the Southampton crew, we had Dave from Portsmouth, Peter from Redbridge and Tracey and Gywn from Derby - a great feeling of a GoodGym team effort - Thankyou!
Between us I think we got 100 tubs to the pub!

A nice collection of toiletries made their way to our local libraries to contribute to the BBC Soapbox Appeal!
A joint effort from us and our lovely Portsmouth neighbours 😍
