I usually end up chatting with someone at Feed the Hill, today was with a woman I’d not seen before who was also a DJ who introduced me to her ‘station’ which ended up being the soundtrack to the rest of my run. I know Ms L’s requirements now, they vary little from week to week and she was happy with the fruit, veg and dry products that I got for her. We had a long chat about what we’d been up to since I was last there too.

What a welcome sight it was when a 1000 litre water bowser was transported to Ladywell Fields, making it easier to give thirsty hedgerow saplings a much needed drink. The extremely dry weather so far this spring has meant that special efforts have been necessary to ensure the survival of the hedgerow, consisting of 350 young trees planted by volunteers in January. The Lewisham council parks team has promised a re-filled bowser next weekend too - and the hedge is looking leafier and healthier.

Turns out Ms Y and I share a love of shortbread biscuits - and even better if they're dunkable. It was a pleasure to fetch a few items of shopping from the local supermarket to help Ms Y next time she's ready for a drink and snack.

No running for me this weekend after my latest clumsy moment meant I’m now wearing a “fancy” boot for the short term, instead I headed to the seaside to volunteer barcode scanning at Deal Parkrun.
It was a lovely morning of scanning 370 runners and walkers (not just me, there was 4 of us).
Next week I’m planning on making my timekeeping debut!

Having missed yesterday's mission confirmation 🤦🏾♀️ I rescheduled it for today. A nice straight forward task with clear instructions and a couple of allen keys. I managed to assemble the table fairly swiftly and Ms P said she was really looking forward to sitting outside with cup of coffee.

Emergency rescue efforts were needed to save a new hedgerow in Ladywell Fields when, after weeks with no rain, the young trees were starting to wilt. A shout-out to park volunteers, neighbours and GoodGymers resulted in a valiant team assembled with buckets and Sunday morning energy to haul water from the River Ravensbourne and tip it onto dry ground around the thirsty saplings. This amazing work paid off… a few days later, new leafy growth was already beginning to appear on the branches of the hedgerow. And we even had a bit of welcome wet weather!
