A Never Ending Story

Saturday 15th February

Written by Laura

This weekend, two neighbours once again went back to the alley in Seacroft to tackle the piles of litter which has accumulated since our last pick. We went off in different directions, Bronwen did the road & I tackled the alley.

The alley is a real problem area with lots of litter in hard to reach brambles but I filled a bag and will go back to see what else I can do. Bronwen also filled a bag quite quickly.

Litter is a real issue in Seacroft but even if we make a small dent, it does make a difference for local residents.

Ferretting Around

Wednesday 5th February

Written by Laura

Tonight, 10 GoodGymers ran a 5K round trip to Hartley Park to litter pick. We'd started the job on Saturday when we filled 5 bags of rubbish & tonight we filled 13 bags. We really made a huge difference to the park & I think the residents will notice a big change tomorrow. It just shows what a difference GoodGym cam make in such a short period of time.

The highlight was meeting a ferret who was out on his nightly walk...yes, really!

Welcome to newcomers Umair & Brandon, we hope to see you again soon.

Thanks to Jason for driving the kit to the task & to Helen for another great run. I know we moan about the hills but we do appreciate them really (honest)!

Jog my memory!

Saturday 1st February

Written by Laura

What a lovely morning spent with Helen & Chloe.

We got up early to meet at Woodhouse Moor park run where we ran independently and then met afterwards at the church for a coffee. Unfortunately, I got confused and waited in the church whereas Chloe & Helen were waiting at the finish line. Sorry guys!

Well done to Chloe for getting back to running after her travels & to Helen for her best time at Park run this year.

We then went to Silver Park to litter pick, the place was full of litter so we filled 5 bags full of rubbish. There's more to do, so we may head there on Wednesday to finish the job.

Shorts & Brief

Saturday 4th January

Written by Laura

This morning 6 dedicated GoodGymers met on a very icey & cold morning to do Woodhouse Moor park run. 4 of us then headed to do a local litter pick around the streets near the park. Jitheesh was very brave picking in his running shorts & top...I got cold just looking at him! We made it a brief task as it was absolutely freezing but still managed 4 bags of litter.

It was also nice to meet Helen's new greyhound Louie, he was a very good boy!

A great start to the January challenge everyone, well done :)

This is the same report as the task was split into two! https://www.goodgym.org/v3/reports/short-brief

2 Pints of Lager & a Packet of Crisps

Monday 23rd December 2024

Written by Laura

Another attempt by me on a solo mission to clear up the local area in Seacroft.

I picked up 27 cans, 4 glass bottles, a sock & many, many packets of crisps! There we also takeaway cartons & lottery tickets in abundance. Still, after 40 minutes I barely made a dent on the still piles of litter in this one spot. This is a work in progress but one i'm determined to sort out!

Until the next time...

A Can of Worms

Saturday 21st December 2024

Written by Laura

On Saturday, two neighbours once again tried our best to clear up the local area of litter.

We went off in separate directions so there's no pictures again, but we picked up 33 cans in total between us! There were still many many more to pick up! We'll go out again to try & pick some more.

It's a difficult job as this area is horrendous for litter but little by little we may make a difference.
