We walk the [Hilsea] lines

Friday 2nd June 2023

Written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)

Sadly we couldn't be joined by Rosie today who had a child-vomiting-in-car incident to deal with.

We walked around the cafes and larger businesses/schools to deliver the big Hilsea consultation posters. Most places were happy to help. Let's hope that lots of people look at them!

When a walk makes sense

Sunday 5th February 2023

Written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)

Today Rosie and I went on the Seekers Create virtual walkshop around Hilsea Lines. We were encouraged to use our senses & describe what we could see, hear, taste, smell and feel in each of the 6 zones. We then had to feed this back via the online forms to provide information to the consultation about the area.

We had a lovely walk in the sunshine and used all our senses. Phoenix enjoyed himself too!

If you'd like to get involved, you can go along to an in person walkshop or take part in the virtual consultation. More info here: seekerscreate.com/hilsea-lines.html

Linking Portsmouth’s History

Sunday 10th January 2021

Written by Portsmouth runner

The Millenium route is three kilometres of linked pathway taking in the Promenade, starting at Spur Redoubt near Clarence Pier, ending at The Hard. Katie, Maxine, Sinéad, Maura and Mel each took a section to try out and check the route, take photographs of notable places, statues, plaques etc. and include the what3words positional reference. The task was completed for Seekers Create to help with the production of an App and other virtual information to include in Seekers ‘Seek Your Spark’ programme ready to roll-out to young people from January 2021. The route is indicated by a chain motif set into the surface of the pathway, symbolising partnership between the communities of Portsmouth and Gosport and between past and present. Historically it also refers to the chain which used to be tightened across the harbour entrance at times of potential attack. I think we all learnt a lot from the task and it highlighted a lot of areas that we might never have explored.

Seeking Historic Gosport

Monday 4th January 2021

Written by Portsmouth runner

This was a task for Seekers Create to help with the production of an App and other virtual information to include in Seekers ‘Seek Your Spark’ programme ready to roll-out to young people from January 2021. Louisa started with the first few legs of the trail and then forged ahead to complete the whole route taking some amazing photographs and including the what3words positional information. Thank you Louisa for a brilliant job! All I had to do was to add photos and text to a Powerpoint file and email that and all the individual images to Seekers Create. It has certainly been a great education learning a lot of very interesting facts along the Gosport Millenium Trail.
