Ssapan and I continued where yesterday's team had left off, unloading bags, putting the clothes on hangers, sizing them and hanging them in the sort room ready to go out in the shop.
The rails were empty when we arrived but full to bursting when we left. Ssapan had lots of white summer clothes after a bag of woolly scarves and my favourite find was a pair of gold leggings!
We have 2 more help outs booked in next week so if you fancy lending a hand and finding some gold, sign up here

Its Wednesday and six intrepid Goodgymers headed back to St Faiths to help with clearing their garden of weeds, overgrown bushes and any rubbish that was there. A big welcome back to Nick who joined us for his 2nd community mission. As we have been there most Wednesdays for a few weeks we had a list of tasks to work alongside their volunteers on the garden. John started tackling the front of the church and cut back a lot of the overgrown bushes, trees and weeds that runs alongside the path. Ssapan, Vicki, Nick, Maxine and myself started off by cleaning the white metal garden benches, chairs and tables so that people will want to sit on them and enjoy them more when visiting the garden. Once we had cleaned and rinsed those, we joined everyone else and tackled the bindweed that was still growing in the hedges, followed by clearing litter that had become more visible due to trees and bushes being cut back. Some of the interesting finds this evening were; Dashcam camera from a car, a partially eaten sausage roll, a single hub cap for a car but the best find was a blue ventian blind that was hidden in the undergrowth.
We'll be back in 2 weeks time so sign up here if you want to go . We had Tunnocks tea cakes and mint clubs this evening, the challenge is on to find the elusive purple raisin ones.

Firstly huge huge happy birthday to Lynn who chose to spent her special day with us!
She got stuck right in and was knee deep in brambles before we knew it. I gave the brambles a go but quickly decided pulling up ivy was a less painful task.
Judy was this evening's litter pick and filled an incredible two whole black bin bags with discarded litter, so we know she was digging deep for that rubbish!
We lost Maxine and Vicki around the other side of the church to a keen gardener who gave them instructions and had them doing ... well I don't actually know what he had them doing! I can be sure it involved pruning and bushes though.
Throughout the evening Ssapan pulled up ivy, cut back brambles, chopped up the larger sticks I couldn't manage, and generally got stuck in all over.
Ssapan is off to London this weekend - for 6 months! So of course we wished him well and thanked him for his recent hard work and commitment to tasks, while reminding him to come back to us!
We're required back at St Faiths next Wednesday so keep an eye on the community missions as that will be listed today and spaces go quickly!!
