Today's task was proof of the willingness of GoodGymers to give their time and energy to a much needed service at short notice. With a particular welcome to Gareth, who undertook his first Community Mission with GoodGym and put in an admirable stint date-sorting hundreds of pasta bags. We enjoyed meeting you.

The Foodbank's permanent move from Moorside to Tollgate Retail Park will take place in a few week's time and this was a busy preparation day for the team. We were astounded by the size of the new premises and it was evident that this will significantly improve storage space while providing an accessible and welcoming area for clients.

Our members joined a host of other volunteers from the area to give a concerted effort to get hundreds of crates of products sorted into date order and ready to slot onto the new racking system. The Front of House team chatted about the benefits of labelling either Q3 or July/Aug/Sept...as you do! The fruit juice sorters, Tav and Ella, made a natty team in their bobbles and smiles:-) And Gareth's resilience with pasta was incredible - happy spirali dreams tonight!

Being together for these deeds is rewarding because it helps society. It's also a reminder that togetherness and chit-chat matter. Hence, it was encouraging to hear about other's exercise goals and how, despite many obstacles, we're still finding ways to get out, get fit and grow the future of Colchester GoodGym.

John and Mike from the Foodbank staff were delighted to have us along and they've posted a big on-line thank you to all who were there.

Sadly, the number of people dependent on Foodbanks is bound to rise. But, the fact from the front line is, every person collecting or receiving a food parcel is truly relieved and thankful for the difference it makes to their lives.

One step at a time. Lovely to see you and keep safe.
